In his role as Senior Portfolio Manager, Mike brings to bear his vast expertise and research capabilities across both equities and fixed income on behalf of Albion clients. Prior to joining Albion, Mike worked for a decade at Barclays Capital in New York and London, where he held positions in equity research, corporate credit research, and ABS trading. Mike’s views and insights from his time in Barclays research have been quoted by numerous financial publications, including the Wall Street Journal, Bloomberg, Thomson Reuters, and others. Mike has a unique ability to synthesize complex financial data and concepts into sensible, actionable investment strategies. He particularly enjoys dissecting great businesses to better understand how they gain and maintain durable competitive advantages over their rivals.

Mike holds an MBA from Duke University, where he was awarded the Breeden Prize as the top overall finance student in Duke’s 2008 graduating class after quadruple majoring in corporate finance, investment finance, accounting, and decision sciences. Mike was selected to the Dean’s List both years at Duke, and was named Fuqua Scholar at graduation for outstanding overall academic performance. Mike also received the Team Fuqua Award, for which he was nominated by his classmates in recognition of his embodiment of Duke’s team-oriented approach to achievement. Mike earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from the University of California at Santa Barbara.

When he’s not working, Mike enjoys spending time with his amazing wife Jocelyn, skiing Utah’s world-famous powder, and following Duke basketball. Mike is also a proud alumnus of the Alta Lodge, the birthplace and original home of Albion Financial.
